The Train Station – From Rails to Roost

Originally located on Evergreen Road, the Train Station (11507 Park Rd, Anchorage, KY 40223) served as the interurban railroad station for Anchorage—a vital hub connecting the town to Louisville and surrounding communities in the early 20th century. During its heyday, the station welcomed passengers commuting for work, school, or leisure, making it an essential part of daily life and a symbol of progress for the growing community.

As the use of rail travel declined with the rise of automobiles, the historic structure found new purpose. It was transformed into a design business, preserving its architectural charm while adapting to modern use. Later, it evolved into a vibrant dining destination, first as The Train Station restaurant and then as the beloved Anchor Inn, both of which became local favorites known for their cozy atmosphere and strong community ties.

In an extraordinary effort to preserve its legacy, the entire building was carefully relocated to its current spot and reimagined as The Village Anchor Restaurant and The Sea Hag Pub. This popular restaurant and gathering place blends rustic charm with stylish flair, honoring the building’s rich history while serving as a lively focal point in today’s Anchorage dining scene.

From its beginnings as a transportation hub to its current role as a culinary landmark, the Train Station has always brought people together—first through travel, now through food, conversation, and community.
